Wedding Tips

From experience, the Best Man can be very nervous when it comes to making an announcement, let alone his speech, and even the most confident of characters have been seen rushing off to be physically sick before hand or worse still, disappearing!

Although traditionally, when it is the Best Mans turn to give his speech, making thanks to the bridesmaids and reading any messages or announcements, such duties will be passed to the Master of Ceremonies to allow the Best Man to enjoy the Wedding Reception along with everyone else.

Best Man

The Best Man has the job of pulling all the pieces together on the day - essentially to relieve the bride and groom of any unnecessary pressure.

A the Church, not only is the Best Man responsible for the Wedding Rings, he guides the Ushers, gives out button holes and service sheets.

He must be at the Church before anyone else and ensure everyone has left the church for the reception.

He can then:

Organise a group of 'reception people' comprising of the bride and groom's parents, the bridesmaids and page boys and guests for a receiving line for the bride and groom, or take a less formal approach and announce the bride and grooms arrival at the reception.

It is best to keep the Best Man informed of all the reception arrangements (unless you have a master of ceremonies) for such things as who, when, where, etc.
