Hints and tips
Children
Wedding days can
be rather long and gaps in the program will undoubtedly
place unnecessary stress and tension on toddlers.
Consider
allocating budget to keep the toddles happy and amused by
engaging professional services with supervision.
Do follow-up
references and confirm suitability of service hired (i.e. Police
check) if you have booked a separate 'kids fun room' to the
main reception room.
Seating Plan
One of the hardest things encountered after securing
the date in the venue's diary is the seating plan.
Pimlico Entertainment suggest that the seating plan
should be discussed and appropriately worked out by both of
you - or you may end up restarting the plan again!
Once you have the general idea, confirm and inform the
venue at an early stage, discussing in person your plans.
Tip for the Father of the bride:
Traditionally, the father gives consent for the marriage of
his daughter to the man worthy of his daughters hand.
The father demonstrates his blessing by either arranging or
presenting the happy couple with a gift, such as the Wedding
Reception, appropriate token gesture, etc.
Today, the
modern wedding is literally packaged by the Bride and Groom
leaving little for the Father to be involved with...until
the speech's!
For the Father of the
Bride, this is a special day for you as much
as it is your daughters.
What you say during your speech when it
is your turn to deliver will count as one of the most
important aspects of the day. So enjoy it!!
Many proud fathers look upon
inheriting a son to the family as opposed to losing a
daughter.
Tip for the
Bride and Groom:
One of the first duties as
husband and wife is to open the evenings reception with
a traditional first dance. If you are a little
nervous about taking the floor in front of everyone, how
about inviting your family and guests to compliment you
both on the dance floor during your dance?
Best Man
It is not a cliché that the Best Man
will be very nervous - from our experience, many are! When it comes to making an announcement,
let alone 'the speech', even the most confident of
characters have been seen rushing off to be physically sick
before hand or worse still, disappearing altogether from the
venue!
Rest assured, although traditionally when
it is the Best Mans turn to give his speech, if there
are any doubts that the Best Man will not be able to
deliver their speech, when making
thanks to the bridesmaids and reading any messages or
announcements, such duties can be passed to either the
Chief Bridesmaid, the Father of the Bride, the Function
Manager or Master
of Ceremonies to allow the Best Man to enjoy the Wedding
Reception along with everyone else.
Tip for
the Speeches:
True, there is nothing worse than an ill-prepared
speech!
We suggest you set aside the time to prepare your
speech rather than hurry to write it down with a day to
go to the big day...think of why you are going to be
there instead of just remembering who you will have to
thank!
The speech can of course be humorous but keep in mind
that there is nothing more embarrassing than an embarrassing
episode openly discussed among friends and especially
family!
A great tip is to think of your guests - yes, sometimes speeches can over run,
but will your well-prepared speech feel like an
eternity to them by the time it is your turn?!
Entertainment
The reception
celebration isn't just the the last
order of the day - it is remembered the most by those
invited who can determine
the whole success of the occasion from this point, or declare the day a disaster
if the reception is unsuccessful!
Whilst it might be great to allocate a little more
budget towards the decoration of the lavish venue you've just hired,
remember that even though aesthetic decorations may look
pleasing to the eye on the day, they do not
motivate guests to celebrate and enjoy themselves.
When you plan to have a wedding reception celebration from
the early evening into the early hours of the morning, take
the gamble out of the equation and book a wedding
entertainment professional who is experienced.
